Starting Your Fitness Journey

I found that the best way to start something is to get up and do it. I don’t know about you, but I can talk all day about the things that I want to accomplish. I can sit down for months and plan things out just the way I want them. But with no action, I won’t get anywhere.

Starting a workout routine or being active in general can be difficult, if it is not something you’re used to. However, you won’t know what it’s like until you try it. I’m not talking about a lazy try, Im talking about a true attempt at making it happen.

When I started my fitness journey, I had in my mind how I wanted to look. I had gained 70 pounds after giving birth to my son, and I wanted to mold my body.

Something like a “post-mom bod”

When I did my research and found out what it took to achieve my desired result, I won’t lie, I was intimidated; but, I took the challenge on. I wanted to prove to myself that I could put in the hard work to achieve what I wanted.

I got a pen and paper and wrote how I wanted to look from top to bottom. I studied the body parts that I wanted to change and researched the most effective exercises. From there, I was able to decide how many days a week I wanted to put in. I took the “bull by the horns” and started working out every day.

Although I was athletic, I was not doing the type of workouts that I was doing now, and boy was it kicking my butt! There were plenty of times I regressed, days that I missed the workout, and ate things I wasn’t supposed to eat. I didn’t beat myself down, because I understand that sometimes breaks are needed. I took it as time to refresh my body, get my mind "right,” and I got back on track.

My journey continues, and there are days that I still regress. No worries, let me tell it… “I’m on vacation!”

Let’s talk,

leave comments and tell me all about the start of your fitness journey!
